The success story starts with the black Jecklin FLOAT
The concept of the electrostatic head loudspeakers was well received, and the number of units sold increased.
The manual manufacture of the converters, it quickly became clear, had to remain in-house. The manufacturing process required know-how and experience. Giving this out would have been the wrong approach and would have stood in the way of continuous further development. Unlike the mechanical parts. From then on, the helmet-shaped hanger was required in large numbers due to the increasing demand. Manual production could no longer achieve this. The associated changes in the manufacture of the bracket (which from then on consisted of a black plastic bracket) was at the same time the start of more cost-effective production and ultimately a blessing for several thousand music lovers around the world. A Jecklin Float was no longer just a tool for the pro. You could buy it in well-stocked specialist shops and use it at home in the private sector. The new production made it necessary to change the shape so that it was not only narrower at the sides at the front, but also the top of the helmet-shaped bar no longer ran up at the front, but sloped down. This did not detract from the enjoyment of the music.
The black series float electrostatic:
With the introduction of the black series FLOAT, music lovers all over the world could listen to music at home just as the sound engineer in the studio had worked it out creatively and with expertise.
The production of the important helmet construction was switched to machine production. Connoisseurs know that with the change in the production method, a design change also became necessary. With the Ur FLOAT, the helmet runs upwards at the top at the front. With the series float, the helmet runs down the face at the top. "Unfolded", the shell no longer consisted of just a rectangular strip of material (in the case of the original Float Plexiglas). If you imagine the shape of the unfolded temples of the black FLOAT series, you can see a rather trapezoidal initial shape. More precisely, this shape was not the shape of the starting material before bending. It was rather what came out at the end of the machine production. The design change of the top mold was due to the construction and function of the tools and molds used at the time the black float was created.
Power supply:
Just like the original Float, the Float series has been delivered with 2 different feeding parts (PS1 and PS2) over the years. As with the original FLOAT, there were different versions with different polarization voltages. Different transformers were used to process the music signal. As already described, it was the overall result that mattered to Jecklin. What the listener hears in the end is important. That was and is still uncompromising. Changes to purchased individual parts and the changing requirements in the market then led to further small modifications to the internal structure and the connections. Especially for the home it was important to optimize the connections for the connection to the hi-fi system.
